CAN Jim Perrin be taken seriously? (or, pot calls kettle black)

We notice that ‘Llywarch, “yrhenwr”, (Portland, Oregon)’ writes, in the first line of his sneering review (scroll down on that page) of Into the Silence — by Wade Davis: ‘One thing that puzzled me about this book was that, despite the tide of effusive comment here [America] and in the British press…’

This, in our opinion, is the use of a ‘red herring’ to imply that he — ‘Llywarch’ — (whom we believe to be Jim Perrin) is, really, not on our shores.

And, he continues: ‘It didn’t pick up any of the mountaineering awards — the Boardman-Tasker, the myriad categories at Banff Mountaineering Book Festival for which it might have been eligible.’

His wording is contrived: the book could not have been awarded a prize if not put forward; and it was the author’s decision — presumably with the best advice possible — which competition he chose to enter. ‘Llywarch’ clearly seeks in this introductory passage to imply that the book did not receive their awards — perhaps would not have done so, and it is in our view a thoroughly nasty piece of insinuation. And it is only one example, among many, in which Jim Perrin has shown this particularly malevolent behaviour to authors whom he has over the years perceived as ‘rivals’.   Continue reading

Jim Perrin sharpens his little knife again?

Presumably Jim Perrin was paid by The Sunday Telegraph for his recent full-page article — in Glorious Technicolor — on the topical issue of Sherpas versus mountaineers, 05/05/2113, and we wonder if they were aware that by publishing it verbatim they had allowed him the opportunity to engineer and incorporate into the article what surely might be a libellous remark — certainly a sly dig — yet another in what we know to be a long list of these towards people against whom Jim Perrin appears to harbour a grudge or bear resentment.

He does not accuse the Sherpas, nor indeed the other main subjects in the article, of being ‘non-performers’ but with his considerable ‘skill’ in these matters — and we have experienced his distasteful ways at first hand, note his virtually libellous comments about us in West and in The Guardian, (writing as  ‘Melangell’, a long-used alias) — he has managed to disparage in his carefully crafted use of that phrase the authors of ‘Mountains of the Mind’, ‘The Mystery of Mallory and Irvine’ and ‘Into the Silence’: it is quite obvious what Jim Perrin has done, and shows him to be without qualm or conscience. Jim Perrin admitted to violence towards a former wife: (plus extra details of his use of aliases…)

Jim Perrin’s dishonest account of his history with our sister included the breath-taking duplicity of his claim that she had been his ‘lover, wife and friend of forty years.’ As an example of this author’s shameless use of implication, this is a tour de force

His subsequent posturing on the The Guardian, post-publication of his book West, and the removal of several of our comments (we presumed at his instigation) finally led us to realize that the only way forward was to create our own site; one which was as informative as possible — and one in which the truth was told.

It was Jim Perrin, we absolutely believe, yclept ‘Melangell’, who posted on The Guardian thread further lies about Jac as well as offensive comments about her sisters and her family — it was a blatant attempt to discredit us and so obvious. These were in response to our stated disquiet and efforts to check him.  His comments are still there — indeed he regularly offers up an opinion under this alias.  To read them, and perhaps to understand why we have no doubt at all that it is Jim Perrin with whom we are dealing, they can be found on the thread following Sir Andrew Motion’s review of West — those concerning Jac’s sisters date from July, 2010.
