A Hidden Side to Jim Perrin

It is one of the finer traits of human-kind to trust and to place confidence in those whom we love or admire and mentors for example, ideally, should have the utmost integrity, their position of ‘power’ never exploited or abused. Cynicism is not naturally a predominant human characteristic and those of a trusting nature may readily, yet unwittingly, fall under the flattering ‘charming’ spell of a subtle and experienced practitioner; one whose flaws of character could lead to a betrayal of their trust.

Jim Perrin, we know, has led people to trust him and to believe in him. But we wonder whether the fact that his writing is in some quarters well-regarded (although, by contrast, the phrase: ‘he’s a purple-prose merchant of a high order’ has been used… ) should override the many grave failings in the character of the man? — character failings which for years (and decades) have been by some only too well known but which are at last now coming to more public attention. Jac’s sisters believe that Jim Perrin also uses the alias ‘Llywarch’

The Guardian, for whom Jim Perrin regularly writes (with, it could be said, his sinecure the ‘Country Diary’), has been accepting the dubious postings of ‘Melangell’ (JP?) for two years since the exchange between jacssisters and Jim Perrin referred to in earlier posts; and although we have contacted several within that organization to record our belief that he is deceiving them, ref. our post ‘Is Jim Perrin ‘Melangell?’, still they seem unaware.

Most recently our suspicions have fallen upon Arthur Dooley, ‘John, N.Wales’, who reviewed The Old Ways on Amazon, 13/06/2012. To suggest that he is Jim Perrin would, we realize, be ‘Perrinoia’ but we do think that his name might have been ‘borrowed’ — a stratagem we believe Jim Perrin has used before.

One has only to read this particular Dooley review, and his comments (one of which follows a review by ‘Sentinal’, 28/04/2012,) to notice the similarities between ‘his’ style — although not in all the previous reviews — and those of ‘Llywarch’ and ‘Mark’; and the comment which followed the posting by Caroline Hardaker (one of Jac’s sisters) of 16/07/2012, was edited five times — we have kept print-outs… Continue reading

Banff Mountain Book Award — Should Jim Perrin be trusted to judge his peers impartially?

This morning, 26/09/2012, we were telephoned by one of our many well-wishers who thought we would be interested to know that Jim Perrin is this year on the jury for the Banff (Canada) Mountain Book Award.

If our ‘well-wisher’ is correct it is an extraordinary coincidence that this information has come to us after we posted, only last night, Might Jim Perrin also have used aliases? ref. R J Ellory, which it is our absolute belief he has been doing for many years.

We know that he flatters to their faces those whom he later — it might be said — stabs in the back, and we gave as an example one name, Joe Simpson, mountaineer and author of many award-winning books.

From reading and googling it is apparent that a most talented young author, and one who writes with great elegance of style, Robert Macfarlane, has also been the recipient of this bizarre and detestable behaviour: as well, it has come to our notice that the eminent scholar, historian and author, David Craig has, similarly, been affected by what in our opinion can only be described as the quite wicked — even corrupt? — machination of Jim Perrin who was instrumental in causing a book of his to be ‘over-looked’ for an award.
