‘Melangell’ (JP?) in a Pyrenean haven

This comment by ‘Melangell’ was posted on the Guardian thread on 02/08/2010…  (Ref. Jim Perrin’s false colours.)

‘When I visited Jim at his house in the Pyrenees last year…’ — it follows therefore that the year referred to was 2009.

Siân Melangell Dafydd, we feel certain, was not party to this. We have explained in previous postings that we are aware of a young Welsh woman of that name who was involved with Jim Perrin (note her dedication below) and we would not wish to hurt her. It is our belief that Jim Perrin hi-jacked her name, as in our opinion he has done with others’. She is a sensitive and highly talented author and is renowned in the Welsh literary world for her poetry and prose and has received many honours for her work. Such a young woman would not — could not — have knowingly lent her name ‘Melangell’ to those disgraceful entries on the Guardian thread concerning our sister and her family; note the sequence, which begins on the 24/07/2010. In the context of our site, however, we feel it is now appropriate to quote details — and her own words — of the genuine Melangell. Jim Perrin admitted to violence towards a former wife: (plus extra details of his use of aliases…)

Jim Perrin’s dishonest account of his history with our sister included the breath-taking duplicity of his claim that she had been his ‘lover, wife and friend of forty years.’ As an example of this author’s shameless use of implication, this is a tour de force

His subsequent posturing on the The Guardian, post-publication of his book West, and the removal of several of our comments (we presumed at his instigation) finally led us to realize that the only way forward was to create our own site; one which was as informative as possible — and one in which the truth was told.

It was Jim Perrin, we absolutely believe, yclept ‘Melangell’, who posted on The Guardian thread further lies about Jac as well as offensive comments about her sisters and her family — it was a blatant attempt to discredit us and so obvious. These were in response to our stated disquiet and efforts to check him.  His comments are still there — indeed he regularly offers up an opinion under this alias.  To read them, and perhaps to understand why we have no doubt at all that it is Jim Perrin with whom we are dealing, they can be found on the thread following Sir Andrew Motion’s review of West — those concerning Jac’s sisters date from July, 2010. Review of ‘Snowdon’ author Jim Perrin’s earlier book ‘West:’

We have expressed our belief that Jim Perrin uses aliases and we have pointed out, particularly, ‘Llywarch’ and ‘Melangell’. ‘Melangell’ (JP?) posted, on 05/09/2012, a comment following an article by The Guardian’s prestigious environment editor, John Vidal two days earlier. Unable to resist the temptation to correct a quote, he did so — perhaps to showcase his ‘erudition’ — (although anyone may look it up), and ended waspishly with a side-swipe by saying ‘The ignorance of these sub-editors!’ In fact he was third in line — two others, ‘FifthCookieMonster’ and ‘hitandrun’, had posted their (more kindly) comments on the 3rd and the 4th of  September.

‘Llywarch’ (JP?) having kept a low profile for some time, posted on Amazon, on 31/12/2012, ‘Ever heard of recurrent motifs and puzzled out their purpose?’ This piece of ‘cleverness’ was a belated response to ‘Richard’ whose review of West may still be read; he had had the ‘effrontery’ to award West merely one star on the Amazon review thread — thirteen months earlier, on 29/11/20 Continue reading
